Los Angeles Kings

The Western Conference has pretty much been dominated by the Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angels kings over the last decade. They had many great playoff battles over the years and each won the Stanley Cup multiple times over that stretch. They both, however, have been underwhelming over the last few seasons. The Blackhawks are looking like they are going to have a decent season, but the same can’t be said about Los Angeles.

They still have the studs you remember like Anze Kopitar, Drew Doughty, and Jonathan Quick. Those guys are still really good but the team around them has been depleted. It has been a true fall of grace for Los Angeles over the last little while. They came in dead last in the Pacific Division in 2018-19 with a record of 31-42-9 for 72 points. It was not a good showing for them and things might not get better any time soon.

Last year, the Blackhawks went 0-1-2 against Los Angeles and earned two standings points. It wasn’t great for the Hawks that they couldn’t get more against one of the leagues worst teams. They should be able to right that ship this upcoming season. You can’t just assume you are a better team than anyone or you will get beat but on paper, the Blackhawks are much better than the Kings. If things don’t go well for them this year, you may see some significant names moved out of there.
