With the Chicago Bears set to kick off the regular season against the Green Bay Packers, who are the players that will key a victory.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, that’s it! The preseason is officially over after the Chicago Bears took on the Tennessee Titans last night at Soldier Field. Not much was learned about the team this preseason. After last week, they thought they had finally found their kicker in Eddy Pineiro, though a brutal shank of an extra point raises questions once again.
In any event, the fact of the matter is head coach Matt Nagy chose to rest his starters rather than subject them to a risk of injury. As a result, the team heads into its long-anticipated season opener against the Green Bay Packers relatively healthy — save for a few minor questions with respect to Trey Burton, Adam Shaheen, and Anthony Miller.
However, when the Bears take the field on Thursday night to kick off their 100th season, they will be staring across the field from their arch-rivals — and more specifically — their arch-nemesis in Aaron Rodgers.
While the Bears have more talent, it is never wise to discount any Packers team with a healthy Aaron Rodgers. He’s come through too many times against the Bears to count him out — even with a new coach and a lack of playmakers on offense.
With that said, the Bears are expecting to come away with a victory to start the season, and frankly, it would be a bit of a disappointment if they don’t. So who has to step up in order for that to happen? We identify three players who will play a key role.
