The Bears gave up a good bit to trade up in the 2018 NFL Draft and select wide receiver Anthony Miller, and it’s beginning to look like a great move.

In his rookie season, Anthony Miller put up seven touchdowns and recorded 423 yards receiving. Miller appears to be a major end zone threat going forward and could see his touchdown total this year reach double digits with ease. Miller was one of the top receivers in his draft class coming out of Memphis and has certainly lived up to expectations at the professional level.

Perhaps the most exciting thing about Miller is not his great rookie season, but rather the fact that he played most of the season with nagging injuries. The shoulder injury that Miller suffered required surgery in the offseason, which leads Bears fans to believe that twenty-four-year-old played 2018 as only a fraction of himself. A healthy Miller is a possible elite number two receiver in the NFL behind Allen Robinson. The Bears could have themselves a very good and young receiving corps if Miller is able to take the next step in 2019, which shouldn’t be too much to ask of him.

Whether Mitchell Trubisky has a big jump in his numbers and establishes himself as one of the NFL’s better quarterbacks is highly dependent on the success of the wide receiving corps. Miller will have a significant impact on Trubisky’s 2019 season and also the rest of his career, and all signs point to number seventeen being a great weapon for Trubisky to use.
