Detroit Pistons

Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond

The Detroit Pistons are going to be sneaky good this season, just as they were last year. Not even talking about Blake Griffin or Andre Drummond for a minute, think about what a healthy Derrick Rose does for this team. That’t not written from a biased standpoint, either. A healthy Rose indeed makes this Pistons team interesting.

But, it’s Griffin and Drummond that lead this team. The Pistons will go as they go. Because the Pistons don’t get talked about as much these days, it’s easy to overlook just how good this duo is. The Pistons have a top-5 front court in the league, hands down.

Last year, Griffin put up a career-high 24.5 points per game and made people remember just how good he can be when at full strength. Drummond, meanwhile, gave Detroit 17.3 points and 15.6 rebounds per night — that’s serious production out of the center position.

All together, Griffin and Drummond combined for 41.8 points and 23.1 boards per game.

Can you imagine if the Bulls got that out of Markkanen and Wendell Carter Jr.? Fans would be through the roof. It sounds impossible because, well, it’s pretty close to it.

As we know, the Western Conference is always competitive and loaded with talent. But, don’t sleep on the East — especially these Pistons.
