Chicago Bears: 4 players to trade before roster cuts
By Ryan Heckman
Linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski
The final and most sensible player to trade right now is backup linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski. Enterting the final year of his contract, Kwiatkoski is likely looking at playing in a different uniform next year.
Since entering the league, he has improved each season with the Bears. Kwiatkoski has been a special teams standout and has also made the most of his time on the field when it was given to him.
Most believe he’s done enough with the opportunities given to him to earn a solid pay day next spring, and I can almost guarantee you it won’t be with the Bears. The other interesting aspect of this conversation is that Danny Trevathan is also a free agent after this season.
Do the Bears let both Trevathan and Kwiatkoski go in favor of drafting a replacement? I see that as a likely scenario, and I’m sure most Bears fans would agree.
For a guy who is in the last year of his contract, it’d be tough to get a solid return unless the receiving team worked out a new deal for Kwiatkoski. In any event, I think if the Bears can get a sixth rounder in return for his services, that would be a big win.
