Chicago Bears: Predictions for David Montgomery in 2019

3. Montgomery will help take the Bears offense to another level
Having a running back that fits your offensive system does more for a team in the long-run than at a first glance. The biggest player that will benefit from the presence of Montgomery is quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.
With a running back that now fits the offensive scheme on the roster, Trubisky will be expected to just operate the offense at a basic level. This means that Montgomery will essentially be there to take the pressure off of Trubisky.
The Bears offense is expected to reach new heights in 2019 for two big reasons. First, chemistry within the offense between playmakers and second, due to continuity on offense. While Montgomery wasn’t with the Bears last year, running back is one position in the NFL where a rookie can have an immediate impact. Recent examples of this include players like Kareem Hunt, Christian McCaffery, and Saquon Barkley.
All throughout training camp, Montgomery has been drawing praise from various teammates and coaches for his skillset and worth ethic. Whenever a new rookie enters the NFL, the transition from college to pro football can often seem overwhelming, but Montgomery appears to be handling it just fine.
Montgomery is clearly motivated to prove that he can be the best rookie running back in the NFL this season. He’s walked into an ideal situation in Chicago where Tarik Cohen and Mike Davis can mentor him until he’s ready to take over.
