Chicago Bears: 10 players facing important training camp
By Ryan Heckman
Trey Burton
Whatever your opinion is on Trey Burton, you’re likely not alone. Opinions have been incredibly split on Burton ever since the tail end of the season this past year. Whether it was due to an injury, mental health issues or anything else, it’s not up to us to judge if we don’t know the whole story.
But, what I do know is this: The Bears can’t feel comfortable about their tight end group. Burton is absolutely talented. He can run great routes and catch passes in traffic. He is swift when it comes to executing the trick plays, giving Nagy a lot of flexibility in how he can use Burton.
Above all else, Burton is one heck of a teammate. He’s a man of faith and known to be a positive influence in the locker room. What’s not to like?
All that’s left for Burton, now, is to go into training camp and put last year behind him. Forget how the year ended. Forget the criticism. Go out and prove he is the starting tight end on these Chicago Bears.
He has all the tools, but he needs to remind us all of that.
