Chicago Bears 2019 NFL Mock Draft 2.0: Replacing Jordan Howard
By Ryan Heckman
Round 5, Pick 162
Most would like to see the Bears come away with one offensive lineman in this draft, in order to solidify some depth there. The team has Rashaad Coward and newly-signed Ted Larson, as well as versatile veteran Bradley Sowell. But, adding another young guy to the mix would help.
The Bears like multi-faceted offensive linemen. Looking at some of the guys they already have like Cody Whitehair, James Daniels and the aforementioned Sowell, Chicago has some linemen who are capable of playing multiple positions.
With their Round 5 selection, I have the Bears picking Ross Pierschbacher out of Alabama, giving them yet another well-rounded, versatile lineman up front. Pierschbacher has experience playing both center and guard, and comes out of a winning program in Alabama where you can typically bank on their starters going on to a nice career as a pro.
Whether or not Pierschbacher ends up starting years down the road is irrelevant. He will be more of a backup, anyways, and gives the Bears someone they can potentially suit up knowing they could use him at a variety of positions in case of an injury up front.
