Chicago Bears 2019 NFL Mock Draft 2.0: Replacing Jordan Howard
By Ryan Heckman
Round 3, Pick 87
Ah, yes. We have come to the replacement in the back field. If the Bears end up with Darrell Henderson out of Memphis, fans will quickly forget about Howard. As lovable as Howard is and was, Henderson will make it simple for fans to feel the same way about him.
At Memphis, all Henderson did was make explosive play after explosive play. Over his last two years with the Tigers, Henderson averaged nearly nine yards per carry (8.9) on the ground. In 2018, he scored 22 touchdowns on the ground while coming fairly close to 2,000 rushing yards (1,909). Henderson also averaged 15.5 yards per catch in his last year with the Tigers.
Running a 4.49 in his 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, Henderson possesses plenty of speed at the position. He’s also a strong runner — actually, a strong athlete in general. Henderson put up 22 reps on the bench press at the Combine.
Watching Henderson play, it’s easy to compare him to Tarik Cohen in a way. Because he’s a little undersized, yet so electric with the football, Henderson checks a few of those Cohen-like boxes. Although, he is much bigger overall than Cohen, making him a great compliment.
At this point, the Bears and their fans can relax because Howard’s replacement is in the fold. From here on out, it’s all gravy.
