4. Round seven, 222nd overall: K Cole Tracy, LSU

This offseason, the Bears will do whatever is necessary in order to find the right man for kicker. The team plans to use every avenue available in order to find Cody Parkey’s replacement. Over the last few weeks, the team has brought in players for a tryout at Halas Hall, has kept an eye on the free agent market, and met with Cole Tracy at the Reese’s Senior Bowl.

By many experts, Tracy is projected to be the best kicker in the 2019 NFL Draft. The best thing about Tracy is that he is accurate. In his lone season at LSU, he was 42 for 42 on extra points and hit 87.9 percent of his field goals.

With Tracy, there are going to be some red flags to watch out for. He never handled kickoffs at LSU, which could be a problem as in the NFL, teams want kickers to handle kickoff duty. The good news for Tracy is that kickoff duty is one thing that he can learn in training camp as he begins his NFL career.

There’s no denying the fact that kicker could end up being the one position that makes or breaks the Bears offseason. With the Bears looking at every possible option, if drafted by the Bears, Tracy will be put under a microscope from day one. He has everything needed to be a successful kicker in the NFL and is already familiar with the Bears. If the Bears do decide to draft him the seventh round, then the job is his to lose.
