Top Play: Tarik Cohen’s 70-Yard Touchdown catch-and-run

The Bears’ offense is in the best shape that it’s been in in a long, long time. The key to that has been one man: Tarik Cohen.

Many people speculated that Cohen would thrive as an all-purpose back in Matt Nagy’s offense. Well, those people certainly weren’t wrong, as Cohen has emerged as a centerpiece of the Chicago Bears offense.

Cohen opened up the scoring in the first quarter with a 70-yard touchdown grab on a screen. While Cohen’s spectacular athleticism and quickness were of his benefit in making the touchdown possible, the Bears offensive line made this play happen.

Led by rookie James Daniels, who was making his first NFL start, the Bears line made it pretty easy for Cohen, who just needed to sprint to the end zone.

The long play was the Bears longest of the season, and it instantly turned the momentum in their favor. While the Bears offense didn’t really continue on with any more long-yardage plays, the 70-yarder certainly set the tone early on.

The two-headed monster of Howard and Cohen was on full display on Sunday. Howard totaled 80 yards on the ground, while Cohen had 110 all-purpose yards. The dynamic duo will need to continue their excellence into conference play, but the display put on this week was just a sample size of what the two can do when both play at their peaks.
