What if I told you the Bears are no. 1 in the NFL in terms of pass coverage? This comes, once again, from our friends over at PFF.

It’s true. The Bears have an overall coverage grade of 90.2.

Once again, let’s take a minute to thank Mr. Mack for not only impacting the six guys up front with him, but the secondary as well. The guy has made the entire defense better, no question.

Through the first three weeks, the secondary looked fantastic and stayed healthy — until Prince Amukamara had to leave against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3.

Going up against the weapons on Tampa’s offense scared some fans, especially considering undrafted rookie Kevin Toliver had to start in Amukamara’s place. The end result?

Toliver was picked on. Over and over. But, he stood his ground. Toliver was targeted 10 times but only allowed five catches, and just two yards after the catch. He wasn’t perfect, but he played much better than some folks expected.

This group as a whole has been terrific. The Bears are second in the NFL with eight interceptions on the year, and two defensive touchdowns.

They have been tested by just a few thus far, and it’ll only get tougher. The Bears still have yet to face the tandem of Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs, the trio in Detroit, along with a star like Rob Gronkowski.
