Chicago Bulls: 3 players who could be traded this summer
By Ryan Heckman
Power Forward Bobby Portis
If you are like me, you saw these rumors the other day and began praying that it doesn’t happen. Bobby Portis has worked his way into the role previously occupied by another fan favorite, Taj Gibson, and is settling in nicely.
It could be argued that Portis has done enough to where he could become a starter on a few teams around the league, but so long as he’s comfortable coming off the bench and has embraced his role, I don’t see any reason to mess with a good thing. Portis has given the Bulls a fantastic boost off the bench on both ends of the floor, but specifically has improved his scoring since first stepping on the court with the Bulls.
Last year saw Portis nearly double his scoring average from the prior season. He also finished with a career-high in rebounds (6.8) and assists (1.7). His 6.8 rebounds in just over 22 minutes per game was a particularly welcomed addition off the bench.

Though fans and teammates love what Portis brings to the floor, Vincent Goodwill of NBC Sports Chicago has reported recently that there are multiple teams interested in trading for the third-year forward. Would the Bulls be silly enough to entertain offers for Portis? I sure hope not. Just a few weeks ago, it was also reported that the Bulls are talking to him about an extension. Let’s all just assume the latter is more likely at this point — although I wouldn’t put anything past this front office.
