The Chicago Bears held their veteran minicamp this week and fans should be excited about a few key takeaways.

When Ryan Pace hired head coach Matt Nagy, he had a vision in mind. Finally, Ted Phillips seemed to allow Pace to make his move without forcing Pace’s hand, and thus far, “his guy” has not disappointed.

Nagy has been a breath of fresh air for the organization, players, fans and city of Chicago. Since day one, you could tell it was a new and brighter beginning within Halas Hall.

The Bears officially kicked off their offseason program recently, and this past week the team held a three-day minicamp for veterans. While fans were unable to attend, the players and coaches gave the media plenty of insight to work with and I was able to come away with some key thoughts on how the week went.

Overall, the week seemed to go pretty smooth. There were no significant injuries other than a minor one involving newcomer, pass rusher Aaron Lynch. Nagy says that Lynch, as well as veteran Leonard Floyd, should be just fine.

While the defense looked sharp for their first time together this offseason, it was the offense that took center stage in the minds of all media members. Of course, Nagy had a lot to do with that coming from such an offensive-minded background.

Both sides of the ball should be very intriguing heading into the next phase of the offseason — the NFL Draft. While there are holes to fill, many of the current players on the roster certainly made it known they are here to stay over the week. Along with some of those players who stood out this week, one member of the staff also shined.
