Chicago Bears: 5 takeaways from veteran minicamp
By Ryan Heckman
Kevin White is instilling hope in everyone, yet again.
Wide receiver Kevin White was a hot topic this week when it came to reporters and coach Nagy. Everybody wants to know what they can expect out of the former first-round pick who has been decimated by injuries since entering the NFL.
Well, so far, White has looked real good. Nagy notes that he looks so good, you’d never know he has been through everything he’s endured over the last three years.
"“He’s a kid [whose] confidence hasn’t been where it needs to be … But what I can tell you is that from what I’ve seen so far, if I was somebody that was coming into this building and facility that didn’t know anything about him, you’d never in a million years know it from what we’ve seen recently.”"
So, as fans, what do we do with responses like that? Obviously, we run with them. Some run faster than others. Consider me on the side of the cautiously optimistic viewpoint.
Like any Bears fan, I want to see the kid succeed. Do I have high expectations? No, I hardly have any expectations for White. But, how incredible of a story would it be for White to come back, play all 16 games and actually play to the level he’s capable of playing?
If minicamp is any indication of what’s to come, I’m guessing he will have his best offseason yet and go into the regular season with the most confidence he’s had since his rookie year.
