Young Chicago Bulls big man Lauri Markkanen has surpassed a huge milestone just halfway into his rookie year. He has become the fastest player in NBA history to hit 100.

Lauri Markkanen has been a revelation for the Chicago Bulls this season, becoming the teams de-factor leader.

In the process of becoming the best player on the roster, he has set many records involving 3-pointers. This time he set the record for the least games to make 100 3s, he accomplished the feat in just 41 games.

The next fastest player to achieve this was Damian Lillard who hit 100 3sin his first 44 career games.

Markkanen began the season on a hot-streak from outside, shooting around 38% on just over 7 attempts per game. He hit a shooting slump during December but is right back on track in January. For the season, he is shooting 37.5% from outside on 6.6 attempts per game.

Very recently, Markkanen scored 33 points and hit 8 threes in a double overtime victory against the Knicks. This game showed just how lethal Lauri can be for the Chicago Bulls when he’s feeling it.

More from Chicago Bulls

Markkanen is on a great pace to hit 200 threes in just his first NBA season. Accomplishing this would give him the most threes hit in a rookie season in NBA history, a record set by Lillard in 2013 with 185 threes.

Lauri has already shown the potential to be one of the best big-men shooters in the NBA, but does he have a serious chance to be one of the best overall shooters ever? The time will come when we find out that answer, but it looks very promising.

The fact that Markkanen is coming off of screens and drilling threes at 7-feet tall is mind-boggling, and he will only become a better shooter with time. In today’s NBA, a player like Lauri is coveted by almost every team and is extremely valuable. This value has been shown so far into his rookie season.
