Chicago Bears free agency: Wide receivers
Kamar Aiken — Baltimore Ravens
At the start of the 2015 season, Aiken had 24 career receptions for 267 yards and 3 touchdowns in four seasons, and all of that came in 2014. He was not expected to do much.
In the first eight games of the season, Aiken had 25 catches for 333 yards, already career highs. He also had two touchdown receptions.
Breshad Perriman was lost for the season early on, then Steve Smith went down and out for the season as well.
That is when Aiken stepped up and shined.
In the second half of the season, he caught 50 passes for 611 yards and three touchdowns. He also added three touchdown receptions and ran one in as well. His totals for the season were 75 receptions for 944 yards and six total touchdowns.
Aiken picked a contract year to have an excellent season. He is ready to hit the open market.
Smith was supposed to retire at the end of this season, but he did not want to end it with an injury, so he says he wants to return for another season. Perriman is expected to be healthy and ready for the 2016 season.
Baltimore wants to have Aiken come back, but once he got the taste of considerable playing time, I do not think he will want to go back to begging for targets.
Aiken will receive some attention in free agency. He has shown to have good hands, and can be depended on to make big catches. He would look good in a Chicago Bears uniform.
