The Bears draft a cornerback
The Bears drafted cornerback Kyle Fuller with their first round pick last year. Could they go that way again?
The Bears have Tim Jennings on the other side of Fuller, but he had an awful season in 2014, and he was arrested on drunken driving charges, and we know how much Pace and head coach John Fox value character.
Having to deal with quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford and now Teddy Bridgewater six games a season, it is important to have tall, athletic corners. Trae Waynes of Michigan State is just that.
Waynes is a speed burner, having run an amazing 4.31-forty. He is also a physical corner who could keep up with speedy receivers.
Waynes does have to bulk up a little. He may get roughed up by the big NFL receivers.
Pairing Waynes with Fuller would give the Bears a dynamic cornerback duo, but would Pace go after a corner after one was picked up last year?
There is another good corner the Bears could go for, and wait until the fourth round. His name is Eric Rowe of Utah.
Rowe is 6-foot-1 and weighs 205 pounds, and plays aggressive so he won’t be bullied around by big receivers. He has long arms and uses his length to his advantage. He has the strength to go up against receivers and knock the ball out of their hands as they try to bring in passes. He also is a great help against the run, fighting blockers. He loves to hit hard.
I don’t see the Bears going after a corner for a second year in a row, especially with some talented corners available later.
