Chicago Bears Week 15: What To Look For

Will the secondary decide to stop somebody?

This sure looks to be a battle between to porous secondaries. The Bears secondary is worse than the Saints secondary.

The scheme used by defensive coordinator Mel Tucker has been awful, and the coverages have been horrible. Opposing receivers have been so wide open so soon that the Bears defensive line can’t get to the quarterback. It seems like two steps is all that is needed and the ball is out of the quarterback’s hand and into the receiver’s.

Perhaps a little bit more of a press defense would help the defensive line get to Drew Brees. Knock the receivers at the line, and the timing of the play could be affected.

Kyle Fuller shows promise, but he’s had the typical up and down rookie season. Perhaps it has to do with the variety of injuries he’s had.

One point of interest is Jimmy Graham. He only has a total of THREE catches in the last two games. THREE! The last time the Bears played a big, talented tight end, Rob Gronkowski had 1,000 yards and 25 touchdowns in the game against them in New England (okay, that was an exaggeration, but not by much).

At some point, the secondary has to make a stand, right? Let’s hope this is the week it happens.
