Bears must frustrate Lions.

The bottom line is this: the Chicago Bears have to frustrate the Detroit Lions. New coach Jim Caldwell was brought in to clean up the Lions’ silly penalties and undisciplined play, but in the last couple of games, those missteps are starting to appear again.

Center Dominic Raiola was involved in a couple of skirmishes against the Patriots late in the game last week. He dove at the knees of Pats’ defensive lineman Zach Moore. The NFL did not punish him for that play, though. Earlier in the same drive, Moore beat Raiola and Raiola clubbed him from behind. For that, Raiola was fined $10,000.

Earlier in the season, C.J. Mosley was suspended two games for violating team rules. Last week, he had a personal foul penalty on a silly unnecessary roughness.

Last season, the Lions destroyed the Packers on Thanksgiving, and had tight control of the NFC North with a 7-5 record. They would lose the four games they had left in the season to finish 7-9. The Bears are hoping they could give their season a real jump-start with a win and continue the Lions’ annual slide.
