Yoan Moncada will make his Chicago White Sox debut on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Chicago White Sox had an extremely busy Tuesday night. Not only did they pull off an impressive seven-player swap with the New York Yankees, they also decided to call up their top prospect, second baseman Yoan Moncada.

Moncada is extremely likely to be in the lineup for the White Sox when they take on the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night. The debut of Moncada may be the most anticipated debut in the history of the organization. The pressure will be on for him to perform, but Moncada is an incredibly talented player who will likely step right in and perform.

Moncada was the centerpiece of the Chris Sale trade with the Boston Red Sox over the offseason. With an incredible offensive ceiling, the 22-year-old Moncada is considered by most to be the best prospect in the entire game. He has done nothing this season but prove his worthiness at the top.

What to expect

In 79 games for Triple-A Charlotte, Moncada hit an impressive .285/.381/.452 with a 132 wRC+, according to FanGraphs. Moncada has shown great contact ability, plate discipline and power. His offensive upside is massive and Moncada can quickly become the face of this White Sox rebuild with a strong showing.

While this is his Chicago White Sox debut, this is not Moncada’s major league debut. Boston brought him up for a short time last season and honestly, the results weren’t great.

Moncada hit an ugly .211/.250/.263 in the majors last season. However, it would be foolish to take much into that, as it was only 20 plate appearances.

Moncada is undoubtedly a special talent who is extremely unlikely to perform that poorly again. He may not come up and light the league up but Moncada appears to be significantly more ready for this call-up. I expect him to have some immediate success.
