The Chicago Bears land an impressive haul of players in this seven-round 2017 NFL Mock Draft.

Mock draft season is undoubtedly here, with many new versions hitting the masses on a daily basis. It is fun to see who is getting projected to the Chicago Bears, especially in the multi-round mock drafts. A complete seven-round mock draft is pure madness.

Randy Gurzi went as deep as possible recently, putting together a complete seven-round mock draft over at NFL Spin Zone. That’s right all seven rounds and 253 picks. It is an extremely interesting mock draft with thought-provoking selections made throughout. For our purposes, let’s take a look at who Gurzi put with the Chicago Bears.

First Round

Myles Garrett went to the Cleveland Browns and Solomon Thomas to the San Francisco 49ers with the first two picks of this mock. With the third overall selection, the Chicago Bears added LSU safety Jamal Adams to their defensive backfield.

Adams is an incredible playmaker at the safety position who would fill an obvious position of need for the Bears. He is one of the most physically gifted players in this draft class, showing elite speed and athleticism for the safety position. Adams is a force in pass coverage and against the run and would immediately make the Bears’ defense much better.

We are starting to see a lot of mock drafts with Adams going to Chicago. He is an obvious fit for the team and would be a welcomed addition.

Second Round

With their early second round selection, the Bears find edge rusher Charles Harris in this mock draft. Harris is not a player who I have seen connected to the Bears much, but he would certainly be an interesting addition.

More from Chicago Bears

Harris is a quick and athletic pass rusher who shows massive natural upside on the edge. He fires off the ball with a quick first step and constantly seems to dominate with his elite overall speed.

The Missouri product undoubtedly has a ton of pass-rush upside, but his ability to defend against the run leaves plenty to be desired. Harris does not have a ton of power at the point of attack and can get blown off the ball at times. However, pairing him with Leonard Floyd on the outside would give the Bears an extremely interesting pass rushing duo to work with.

Middle Rounds

In the third round of this mock draft, the Chicago Bears take defensive tackle Davon Godchaux. This is the first selection that I am not a fan of. Godchaux is a big and strong defensive lineman who has some quickness, but he is far too inconsistent. Plus, the defensive line is not a major need for the team.

Wide receiver Chris Godwin and offensive tackle Taylor Moton went four and five picks later. Either player would have made a ton more sense for the Bears in the third round.

I did not love the Godchaux pick, but their fourth round selection of Ardarius Stewart was fantastic. Stewart is a talented wide receiver who showed game-breaking ability at Alabama. He has a ton of upside at the next level and is also a tough and aggressive receiver who has a relatively safe floor. He would be a nice addition to the Bears’ wide receiver mix.

A few picks later, the Bears take a shot on some more pass rush upside in Illinois’ Dawuane Smoot. Smoot has some ability and is not a bad pick, but another pass rusher seems excessive. You can never have too many pass rushers, but after adding Harris earlier, I can’t help but think there would have been a better use of this pick. Safety Josh Evans or cornerbacks Howard Wilson and Corn Elder would have made more sense in the fourth round.

Finishing it Off

With their final two picks, the Chicago Bears landed tight end Jonnu Smith (fifth round, third pick) and quarterback Jerod Evans (seventh round, third pick). Smith is an interesting tight end prospect who has receiving upside and can block well. He would be a strong addition to the Bears at an important position of need.

Not taking a quarterback until the seventh round is an unlikely scenario for the Chicago Bears in the 2017 NFL Draft. They may not take one right away, but I would be shocked to see them pretty much ignore the position.

That being said, Jerod Evans is a talented quarterback prospect who would make a lot of sense as a developmental project in Chicago. He is a big and strong kid who has some nice athleticism and a lot of long-term upside.

Final Thoughts

1.03: Jamal Adams, S, LSU
2.04: Charles Harris, EDGE, Missouri
3.03: Davon Godchaux, DL, LSU
4.04: ArDarius Stewart, WR, Alabama
4.10: Dawuane Smoot, EDGE, Illinois
5.03: Jonnu Smith, TE, Florida Atlantic
7.03: Jerod Evans, QB, Virginia Tech

All in all, there is a lot to like about this mock draft for the Chicago Bears. They undoubtedly add a ton of talent to their mix on the defensive side of the ball. Their offense falls behind, but you cannot take care of everything in one draft.

Adams, Harris and Stewart are three picks that I particularly like, while Godchaux and Smoot are head-scratchers to me. Another mock draft down. Soon, we can stop speculating and analyze actual draft selection made by all 32 NFL teams.
