The Chicago Bears play the Jacksonville Jaguars tonight in what is the team’s second Pre-Season game of the season.
In their first Pre-Season last Friday, the Bears defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 34-28. In that game, all four of the Bears’ quarterbacks–Jay Cutler, Jordan Palmer, Jimmy Clausen, and David Fales–excelled in their playing time against the Eagles. The Bears’ first-team defense also shined with consistent pressure on Eagles’ quarterback Nick Foles that forced two interceptions.
In tonight’s game against the Jaguars, Clausen will be the second quarterback to enter the game for the Bears behind Cutler. Clausen is competing with Palmer to be Cutler’s backup this season.
Jared Allen, who was inactive last Friday for the game against the Eagles, is expected to play tonight for the Bears.
Meanwhile, the Jaguars’ enter tonight’s game after defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first week of the Pre-Season. In that game, quarterback Blake Bortles, the No. 3 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, was impressive. Bortles was 7-11 passing for a total of 117 passing yards. Bortles has looked the most impressive of any rookie quarterback this Pre-Season but the Jaguars do not appear to be inclined to insert Bortles as their starting quarterback at the start of the season.
