Chicago Bears football returns on Friday night as the Bears open their Pre-Season against the Philadelphia Eagles at Soldier Field.
The Bears are entering an off-season in which the team beefed up their defensive unit. Over the off-season, the Bears added Jared Allen, Willie Young, and Lamarr Houston in an attempt to strengthen their defensive line. In the secondary, the Bears signed a plethora of safeties that include Adrian Wilson, Ryan Mundy, M.D. Jennings, and Danny McCray.
On the offensive side, the Bears remained relatively the same from last season. The Bears, however, are looking for a new backup quarterback and backup running back. Jimmy Clausen and Jordan Palmer are competing to be the Bears’ backup quarterback while Shaun Draughn, Ka’Deem Carey, and Michael Ford are all competing to be the backup to Matt Forte.
The Eagles, on the other hand, bolstered their offense during the off-season with the addition of running back Darren Sproles. Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is also returning this season for the Eagles after missing all of last season due to an injury.
The Bears are looking to exact some revenge on the Eagles on Friday. The Bears and Eagles last played each other in week 16 of the 2013 regular season and the Eagles defeated the Bears 54-11.
