After playing in just ten games over two seasons due to a torn ACL and torn meniscus, a lot of people doubt whether or not Derrick Rose can come back and be the same, dynamic player he was before the injuries.
Speaking on Sunday at the unveiling of his D Rose 5 shoe, Rose had a message for those doubters.
“I still have goals. Seeing those doubters out there, it’s gonna be funny seeing them eat their words.”
Rose will begin practicing with Team USA on Monday in preparation for the FIBA World Cup in Spain. He said if the season started today he would be ready to go.
Head coach Mike Krzyzewski recently said that he expects Rose to practice fully, and that there would be no restrictions placed on him.
Last month, the Chicago Tribune’s K.C. Johnson reported that Rose was well on his way to a full recovery.
As previously reported, Rose began taking full contact in the form of one-on-one or two-on-two or three-on-three offday sessions late in the first-round series against the Wizards. Rose has had no setbacks and, if the season started tomorrow, would be fine to play. He remains on schedule to participate in the Team USA minicamp in Las Vegas at the end of July and hopes to make the World Cup team that will compete in Spain in late August through early September.
It will be exciting to watch Derrick Rose shut his haters up. No one in the NBA works harder than Rose, and with the hit his reputation has taken over the past two seasons, he needs to show them that the old, great Derrick Rose is back.
