Chicago Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long arrived to training camp on Thursday in light of the news that he will not be ready when the team takes the practice field on Friday morning.
Bears’ general manager Phil Emery told reporters on Wednesday that Long would begin training camp on the physically unable to perform list as the offensive lineman recovers from a viral infection.
While speaking with reporters on Thursday, Long indicated that the infection was nothing too serious.
“I was pretty sick and run down this past weekend, but I’m feeling better,” Long said before entering the ONU dining hall. -Kyle Long, ESPN Chicago
While Long may not ready on Friday, the second-year guard is not expected to miss any of the Bears’ pre-season games. Considering the Bears already have starters in place on the offensive line, Long’s absence should not have a major impact on the team at the start.
Long, who will once again be the Bears’ starting right guard, is looking to build off a rookie campaign that ended with a selection to the Pro Bowl.
