The Carmelo Anthony sweepstakes are coming to a conclusion and yet, there is another twist.
According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the Los Angeles Lakers have joined the Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks as serious contenders to sign Anthony.
The Lakers are selling Anthony on the idea that they can offer him a max-contract without having to make any other roster moves.
Though, the reason why the Lakers can do such a move is because their roster is depleted. Therefore, the selling point of being able to offer Anthony a max-contract with ease is not an actual selling point.
There has been speculation that this could a ploy by Anthony to initiate a sign-and-trade from the Knicks. Phil Jackson has been reluctant to offer up Anthony in a sign-and-trade, though if push comes to shove, Jackson would be willing to engage in a sign-and-trade with the Bulls.
The belief is that Anthony will make his decision within the next 24 hours.
Meaning in 24 hours, Bulls fans will either be content for the summer or complain until the opening night of the regular season.
