Chicago Bulls’ point guard Derrick Rose has received criticism for his unwillingness to recruit players to the city of Chicago.
According to a report from the Chicago Tribune, Rose is not going to recruit Carmelo Anthony nor Kevin Love this summer. While Rose will not recruit, the report does state that the Bulls’ point guard would welcome a blockbuster addition to the Bulls’ roster. The report goes as far as to say that Anthony is aware that Rose would welcome him in Chicago.
After the summer of LeBron in 2010, there was a belief that James was offended that Rose did nothing to help the Bulls’ recruiting efforts. James reportedly did not feel like he would be welcomed by Rose in Chicago.
That does not appear to be the case this summer with Rose and the Bulls’ free agent targets.
Rose’s welcoming of Anthony in Chicago likely will not sway the free agent all-star in either direction but it is comforting to know that Rose has softened his stance.
Free agents can begin visiting teams on July 1. Anthony is expected meet with the Bulls on the first day of free agency.
