2014 NBA Playoffs: Bulls Look To Even Series In Game 2 Against Wizards

After a disappointing loss to the Washington Wizards on Sunday in game 1 of their first-round series, the Chicago Bulls and head coach Tom Thibodeau may be looking to change their game-plan in game 2 on Tuesday.

While speaking from the Bulls practice on Monday, Thibodeau did not reveal whether or not there would be changes in store for game 2.

“We’ll see,” he said. “We’ll see how it unfolds.” -Tom Thibodeau, ESPN Chicago

Unless the Bulls forgot how to play defense, the team does not need to make drastic changes. While the Wizards showed some things on Sunday that they didn’t normally do in the regular season, the fact of the matter is that if the Bulls play defense like they are capable of, then the Wizards will not be able to beat them.

While the Bulls defense looked sloppy on Sunday, the team would have been able to overcome their defensive shortcomings had the offense shown an ounce of life in the fourth quarter. Thibodeau admitted that the Bulls offense needs to help create better shots for one another.

“Well, we’ve got to make shots,” Thibodeau said, when asked why his team’s offense stalled late “That’s a big part of the game so we’re not going to get away from the guys that have gotten us there. But there’s certain things that we could do to help each other get open, and we’re going to have to do that.” -Thibodeau, ESPN Chicago

With Mike Dunleavy expected to see an uptick in minutes for game 2, fellow Bulls guard D.J. Augustin needs to find his shot. The Bulls can ill-afford another poor shooting performance from Augustin.
