The ideal scenario came to fruition for the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night, the final night of the NBA regular season.
With both the Bulls and Raptors losing on Wednesday, the Bulls clinched the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. With the fourth seed, the Bulls open up the first round of the NBA Playoffs against the Washington Wizards. If the Bulls were to advance past the Wizards in the first round, the team would potentially face the first-seeded Indiana Pacers in the second round.
The reason why this was the ideal outcome for the Bulls is that it means that the team will not face the Miami Heat until the Eastern Conference championship round. While the Heat are the second-seed, the general belief is they pose a more difficult matchup for the Bulls than the Pacers do.
In their season series against the Wizards this season, the Bulls lost 2 out of 3.
Though, in the most recent game on April 5, the Bulls had a commanding 96-78 victory.
The two losses to the Wizards by the Bulls came early in January when the team had yet to come into their rhythm.
The Bulls have been one of the best teams in the second-half this season and will look to carry that momentum into their first round series against the Wizards.
