Wednesday marks the final day of the NBA regular season with the playoffs set to begin on Saturday.
The Chicago Bulls still do not know who they will face in the opening round of the playoffs.
The Bulls enter play on Wednesday being tied with the Toronto Raptors for the 3-seed. The Bulls close out the season with a game against the Charlotte Bobcats while the Raptors close out the season with a game against the New York Knicks.
With the Raptors holding the tie-breaker, it would appear likely that the Bulls will be the 4-seed. Though, that can change with a Bulls victory and Raptors loss on Wednesday.
The Bulls, however, may want to remain as the 4-seed. With the 4-seed, the Bulls would have a first round matchup against the Brooklyn Nets and set up a potential second round matchup with the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers clinched the first seed in the Eastern Conference on Monday.
As a 3-seed, the Bulls would open up the first round against the Washington Wizards and have a potential second round matchup with the Miami Heat.
It goes without saying that the Bulls do not want to face the Heat until the Eastern Conference championship round. That would be why the Bulls may want to settle for the 4-seed as opposed to playing for the 3-seed.
