Jay Cutler’s backup from last year, Josh McCown, has left Chicago. Ian Rapoport reported that McCown signed a two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
McCown had a career year with the Bears last year. Even though his record as a starter was just 3-2, he had 11 touchdowns and only one interception. He had a 108.2, which was one of the highest in the league.
McCown is expected to compete for a starting spot with the Bucs.
This move leaves the Bears with Jordan Palmer, who recently re-signed with the team, as Cutler’s backup. Perhaps the will look for another quarterback to compete with Palmer.
