This past weekend, Seattle Seahawks free agent defensive end Michael Bennett was clearly identified as the top target for the Chicago Bears. Late Sunday night, word rose that the Bears were expected to sign Bennett when free agency officially opened on Tuesday.
Not so fast.
Adam Schefter of ESPN tweeted on Monday that Bennett is now expected to return to the Seahawks.
Seahawks have emerged as the favorite to land free-agent DT Michael Bennett, and keep him in Seattle, per sources.

Bennett’s top priority has been to remain with the Seahawks, though, the defensive end was not willing to give his team a home-town discount. That is where the Bears have their opportunity to sneak in and pry Bennett away from Seattle.
Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune tweeted on Monday afternoon that the Bears are currently offering more than the Seahawks.

Though considering the difference at this point is only a half of million, chances are Bennett will indeed return to the Seahawks.
If the Bears do miss out on Bennett, expect the team to turn their attention to Michael Johnson.
Unlike signing with the Bears, Bennett would be able to officially sign with the Seahawks on Monday.
