The Chicago Bears lost out on Michael Bennett on Monday as Bennett re-signed with the Seattle Seahawks. The Bears have moved on from Bennett and are pushing for their plan B option.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network tweeted on Monday that the Bears have set their sights on Oakland Raiders free agent defensive end Lamarr Houston.

Houston matches the speed and physical play that Bears general manager Phil Emery looks for out of defensive ends. Houston had six sacks with the Raiders last season, though, Pro Football Focus is high on the Raiders defensive end and believes his sack numbers will improve in 2014. Pro Football Focus had Houston as the top-rated free agent pass-rusher. Houston ranks behind Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson as the third-best available free agent defensive end.
Houston would also come at a significantly cheaper price than Bennett. Houston would replace Julius Peppers on the defensive line. Peppers figures to be released once the Bears sign his replacement.
Houston was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
