The Tampa Bay Lightning have claimed Mike Kostka off of waivers from the Blackhawks. Kostka played nine games with the Blackhawks this season, scoring two goals and adding an assist. He also also had a +3 rating for the team.
Known by the Blackhawks fan base as “Thor”, Kostka just signed on with the Hawks this past off-season. Kostka has been in the Lightning organization before, spending the 2011-12 season with their AHL affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals.
While only 28 and stepping into the prime of his career, Kostka was extremely expendable for a team like the Hawks, who are very deep at the blue-line, and always seem to add increasingly talented players.
