Chicago Bears Key Offseason Dates

Yesterday, the Chicago Bears released their key offseason dates.

The team offseason training will begin on April 22nd. They will last nine weeks and are broken down into three phases.

Phase one lasts for a period of two weeks. The only activities allowed are strength and conditioning and physical rehab. The only coaches allowed contact with players are the strength/conditioning coaches.

Helmets are not allowed, and footballs are only used for quarterbacks to throw to receivers. The receivers cannot have anyone covering them.

Phase two lasts for three weeks. All coaches are allowed on the field with the players. Individual player instructions and drills are allowed, but having drills pitting the offense against the defense are not.

Phase three lasts for four weeks. Up to 10 days of organized team activity workouts are allowed. Helmets are allowed in phase three, but one-on-one drills with the offense and defense are not.

There is no live contact allowed at all during any of the offseason training activity (OTA) workouts. Players may not be at the team facility for more than four days a week, four hours a day, on weekends, or on the field for more than 90 minutes.
