Bears Fans: Let's Keep Urlacher Hate to a Minimum

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

After going through the comment sections of not only this website, but other Bears forums, the hate being directed at Brian Urlacher is ridiculous. Yes, he’s saying things that are uneducated about the Bears, and some things that are even wrong, but he’s a legend, and before he came to the Bears the team had no hope. He helped turn around our franchise, so he can say whatever he really wants about the team.

I’ve questioned Urlacher’s comments aloud before, but spewing hatred towards him is wrong. The FanSided community, and especially Da Windy City, hasn’t been as angry and hateful as some other sites, but still has been extremely critical of Urlacher’s comments. Him saying that this Bears team would have been better this season with Lovie Smith at the helm was a statement that I can only perceive as wrong. His latest  statement, saying the Bears are trying to get rid of Smith’s players, has no merit. But, Urlacher is paid to say things like this, and, as someone who works in the media, saying controversial things that get people talking does wonders for your career. From what he saw, players that were “Lovie’s Guys” were being given less money than they deserved. We can’t attack the man because he tells us what he sees, again, he gets paid to do that.

It’s okay to be frustrated with how Urlacher is acting towards the team following their messy break-up, but let’s try and keep it at that, frustrated, and not angry and hateful.
