The Bulls have officially cut ties with disappointing former first round pick Marquis Teague by trading him to the Brooklyn Nets.
The trade will see Small Forward Tornike “Togo” Shengelia coming to the Bulls. Shengelia has played in 17 games for the Nets this season, averaging 1.5 points and 0.8 rebounds per game. Shengelia, like Teague, has been moving back and forth between the D-League and NBA all season.
It is expected, yet not confirmed, that the Bulls will be sending Shengelia to the D-League as soon as the players pass their physicals and officially transfer teams. The Nets also traded Tyshawn Taylor to the New Orleans Pelicans.
Teague has been a disappointment since being drafted 29th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft. He has averaged 2.1 points and 1.5 assists per game, while playing in 68 games. While in college at Kentucky, his averages were 10 points and 5 assists per game.
