He’s back. Derrick Rose had a phenomenal fourth quarter helping the Bulls defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder for their seventh straight win. Rose had 13 points in the final quarter of play and was 3-3 from behind the arc. The Bulls won the game 104-95.
The Bulls had to overcome a seven point deficit about half way through the fourth quarter and were able to do so. Now, if this were the regular season we would’ve seen Kevin Durant playing down the stretch, but we didn’t and the Bulls took advantage of his absence.
Rose led the team with 26 points, but Carlos Boozer and Luol Deng chipped in 20 a piece as well. Jimmy Butler made a nice return from his left knee injury, he had 12 points in 33 minutes played. Rose played a preseason high 35 minutes and was 10-10 at the free throw line.
Joakim Noah and Kirk Hinrich both sat out with injuries and may not play in the teams final preseason game on Friday. The two could possibly even sit out the season opener next Tuesday against the defending champion Miami Heat.
Kevin Durant had 22 points in 35 minutes played. He sat out the majority of the fourth quarter, but was effective as usual, during his time on the court. Second year man Jeremy Lamb also had 22 points in 38 minutes played for the Thunder.
Back up point guard Reggie Jackson, Nick Collison, and rookie Steven Adams all tallied double figures as well.
The team played without Russell Westbrook, who is still nursing that knee injury. They were also without Serge Ibaka and Thabo Sefolosha.
The Bulls will now have a day off before they round out the preseason Friday night against the Denver Nuggets. The Bulls will look to go undefeated in the preseason before they start play on October 29th. Tip off Friday night is scheduled for 7:00 pm CT.
