Chicago Blackhawks Recall Brandon Pirri From Rockford

The Chicago Blackhawks announced after their 3-2 victory Friday night that they have recalled forward Brandon Pirri from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. Also, the team assigned forward Jimmy Hayes to Rockford.

Pirri, 22, has recorded three assists in as many games with Rockford this season. He leads the team in assists, tied for second in points and shots on goal with 10.

He has two assists in seven career National Hockey League regular-season games with the Blackhawks. He also appeared in two Stanley Cup Playoff games last season.

The Toronto, Ontario, native was selected by the Blackhawks in the second round, 59th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Hayes, 23, has appeared in two games with the Blackhawks this season and has six goals and seven assists in a combined 41 games the pass two seasons.

The Dorchester, Mass., native was acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for the 43rd overall selection in the 2010 Entry Draft on June 26, 2010. Toronto selected him in the second round, 60th overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
