The Chicago Bulls defeated the Washington Wizards 83-81 in the Bulls’ third preseason game that was played in Rio de Janeiro this afternoon. The Bulls were minus their star point guard Derrick Rose due to a sore knee. I think I may have jinxed it by reporting a couple days ago that Rose was experiencing no soreness at all, but this is very common for an athlete like Derrick, coming of an injury like that.
Taj Gibson once again led the way for the Bulls, he had 18 points and 8 rebounds off of the bench. If Gibson can consistently give the Bulls and that second unit a legitimate scoring threat, look out. Luol Deng and Jimmy Butler were also in double figures for the Bulls, they had 14 and 11 points respectively.
Marquis Teague has shown some maturation this preseason. We are starting to see Teague be more aggressive and he looks more confident as well. While taking care of the ball and shooting are still coming around, Teague has impressed me so far. Rookies Erik Murphy and Tony Snell had a combined four points, but seem to be becoming around and settling into themselves.
Joakim Noah sat out his third straight game due to his groin. There doesn’t seem to be a timetable for his return at this point.
The Washington Wizards had four players in double figures, Bradley Beal and Martell Webster led the charge with 16 and 15 points. Rookie sensation Otto Porter Jr. did not play in the game for the Wizards.
The Bulls will be in action again this upcoming Wednesday as they will be back at the United Center taking on the new look Detroit Pistons. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 PM CDT.
