Wednesday may be an important day for the Chicago Cubs search for a new manager.

Wednesday is when New York Yankees’ general manager Brian Cashman will meet with the representatives of Joe Girardi and engage in contract discussions. The expectation is that Girardi’s camp will involve the Cubs and Washington Nationals in the process, meaning the Cubs’ may gain permission to talk to the Yankees’ manager  at some point today.

That is the only thing that the Cubs’ front office is hoping for. If Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer have the chance to speak with Girardi, the front office tandem is confident they will be able to convince the Chicago native to return home for a chance at immortality.

At this point, the Cubs are going all-in for Girardi at this point. The Cubs pursuit of Girardi is so intense that the team, while having candidates in mind, has not assembled any sort of list of candidates.

With that said, there have been potential candidates to be linked to the position. Is Girardi your favorite or do you have another candidate in mind?
