Fire Forward Mike Magee scored two goals in the second half before Maxim Tissot added a late Montreal Impact goal to draw the game 2-2 on Saturday night at Toyota Park.
MLS scoring leader Marco Di Vaio scored his 19th goal of the season at the 25th minute mark that gave the Montreal Impact a 1-0 lead through halftime.
Di Vaio split defenders Austin Berry and Gonzalo Segares at the 25th minute mark to send a 12-yard shot past Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson.
Magee’s first goal came on a short shot at the 57th minute mark and he struck again at the 73rd minute mark when Montreal goalkeeper Troy Perkins tried to clear the ball.
Perkins lost possession as Magee challenged him, found the loose ball and hit the back of the net. Magee missed a hat trick when a penalty kick six minutes later hit the post.
Tissot added the late Impact goal at the 87th minute mark to draw it 2-2.
The Fire entered Saturday’s match one point behind fifth-place New England and a playoff berth in the MLS Eastern Conference.
Montreal came into the match with back-to-back home losses while the Fire had just one win in their last four. The losses left the Impact, six points behind New York in third place.
The Fire will travel to play D.C. United next Saturday at 7:00 p.m. CT (NBC Sports/La Ley 107.9).
