The White Sox beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2 in a makeup of a postponded game from June 12th.
The makeup game falls in the middle of a five-game road trip to Detroit and Cleveland, before the Sox conclude their 2013 campaign at home against Kansas City.
In Sox left-hander Jose Quintana‘s (9-6, 3.45 ERA) 32nd appearance he earned his ninth victory of season after allowing two earned runs on five hits over 7 1/3 innings. He also struck out six and walked one.
Rookie Marcus Semien hit his first major league career home run, a two-run shot in the second off Blue Jays starter J.A. Happ (4-6, 4.85 ERA) for a 2-0 Sox lead.
J.P. Arencibia answered with a solo homer in the fifth before Avisail Garcia launched his sixth homer of the season in the bottom of the inning to push the Sox lead to 3-1.
Happ gave up eight hits and three earned runs, struck out five and walked three in five innings.
Kevin Pillar led off with a line drive double in the eighth to center field before scoring on Ryan Goins‘ single to make it 3-2.
Sox left-hander Hector Santiago (4-9, 3.53 ERA) and Cleveland Indians right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez (12-9, 3.39 ERA) are the starters for Tuesday night in Cleveland at 6:05 p.m. CT (WCIU/WSCR 670).
