Detroit Tigers second baseman Omar Infante‘s RBI single in the eighth inning gave the Tigers a 1-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night at U.S. Cellular Field.
Infante’s hit broke the seven inning scoreless game and was only the third off Sox reliever Matt Lindstrom after starter Jose Quintana (7-6, 3.70 ERA) allowed five hits, struck out six and walked two in a seven inning no-decision.
The no-decision was Quintana’s seventh of the season as the Sox offense could not muster an extra base hit off Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez (14-7, 2.50 ERA) who went 7 1/3 innings and gave up five hits, struck out 10 and walked four.
Sox left-hander John Danks and Cleveland Indians right-hander Corey Kluber are the starters for the four-game series opener Thursday night in Chicago at 7:10 p.m. CT (CSN/WSCR 670).
