Andre Rienzo 1st Win, Chicago White Sox 5-2 Victory

Dayan Viciedo hit his second career grand slam and right-hander Andre Rienzo earned his first major league victory in a 5-2 Chicago White Sox victory over the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night.

The victory marked the first time this season the Sox have reached a five-game winning streak this season and their 11 victory in 16 games.

Paul Konerko and Conor Gillaspie added singles to load the bases; Viciedo hit a grand slam off Royals right-hander Jeremy Guthrie (12-10, 4.27 ERA) to left to extend the Sox lead to 5-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Royals designated hitter Billy Butler hit a leadoff single and scored on Mike Moustakas’ sacrifice fly to cut the Sox’s lead to 5-1.

The Royals cut the Sox’s lead to 5-2 in the sixth inning. Alex Gordon hit a leadoff single and scored on David Lough’s RBI single to right-center.

Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia hit a single in the sixth inning to extend his hitting streak to eight games.

Gutherie went six innings, gave up nine hits and five earned runs, and struck out two.
