Chicago Bulls open season on Oct. 29 in Miami

Chicago Bulls will open their 2013-2014 season on Oct. 29 against the Miami Heat on the road, the NBA announced on Tuesday.

The season-opener will have the traditional ring ceremony for the champions, the Heat. The Bulls will be the opponent in one of three other opening night games with the Orlando Magic playing the Indiana Pacers and the Los Angeles Lakers hosting the Los Angeles Clippers.

The opener is the first of four games against the defending champion Heat with the first United Center game Dec. 5.

Derrick Rose will play his first home game in over year on Nov. 2 when the Bulls host the New York Knicks for their home opener.

The Bulls start the season with 10 of their first 15 games on road finishing November with a six game Western Conference road trip including the Denver Nuggets (Nov. 21), Portland Trailblazers (Nov. 22), Clippers (Nov. 24), Utah Jazz (Nov. 25), Detroit Pistons (Nov. 27), and Cleveland Cavilers (Nov. 30).

This season the Bulls have 17 sets of back-to-back games, including a Dec. 10 through 14 stretch of four games in five nights, two against the Milwaukee Bucks and one against the Toronto Raptors. Their toughest back-to-back comes on Dec. 18 and Dec. 19 against the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder on the road.

After a game at home against Cleveland on Dec. 21 the Bulls will travel to Brooklyn to play a Christmas Day game, Dec. 25, against the Brooklyn Nets. The Bulls will begin the festivities at 11 a.m. CT followed by the Thunder at the Knicks, the Heat at the Lakers, the Rockets at the San Antonio Spurs and the Clippers at the Golden State Warriors in the night cap.

In January the Bulls host nine out of their 15 games, with back-to-back games against the Philadelphia 76ers (Jan. 18) and Lakers (Jan. 20).

On Jan. 29 the Bulls start off another six game Western Conference road trip against the Spurs over 12 days. They then play the newly named New Orleans Pelicans (Feb. 1), and Sacramento Kings (Feb. 3), Phoenix Suns (Feb. 4), Warriors (Feb. 5), and Lakers (Feb. 9).

The Bulls will play the Heat in Miami again on Feb. 23 a week after the All-Star break. The final game between the two teams will be on March 9 at the United Center.
