Chicago Bears Sedrick Ellis retires, Jamaal Anderson signs

Chicago Bears have reported to Bourbonnais for training camp but did not see defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis report. According to Chicago Tribune beat writer, Brad Biggs, Ellis informed the Bears he will retire.

Ellis signed a one-year contract worth a reported $1 million with a $285K signing bonus.

Following the Ellis news, Bears’ General Manager Phil Emery made quick work to fill the 90-man training camp roster by signing Jamaal Anderson to a one-year contract.

The 6-foot-6, 282 pound Anderson was drafted No. 8 overall in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons, playing four seasons for the Falcons’ organization he registered 4.5 sacks, 83 tackles, and 22 assists in 60 games.

The Arkansas alum, was released by the Falcons at the end of the 2010 season and was signed by the Indianapolis Colts for one season before joining the Cincinnati Bengals in 2012 and subsequently released in early July this year.
