Chicago Blackhawks will open training camp at Notre Dame

The Chicago Blackhawks will begin their quest for the team’s sixth Stanley Cup championship on Sept. 12 when they begin training camp at Notre Dame.

The training camp will last four days, Sept. 12 to 15, at the Compton Family Ice Arena on the University of Notre Dame campus. The new arena is located south of the Joyce Center and west of the new Fighting Irish track and field facility.

Following the camp the Hawks will return to the United Center, Sept. 16, for the annual training camp festival, tickets will be available at 10 a.m. for $5 on Friday.

This is the first time the Hawks have held training camp at Notre Dame and the move can be largely attributed to General Manager Stan Bowman, a Notre Dame alum.

The news of training camp comes on the heels of the Hawks schedule being released on Friday. The Hawks will host the Washington Capitals on Oct. 1, when they will raise the 2013 Stanley Cup Championship banner.
