The Chicago Blackhawks released their 2013-14 NHL season schedule on Friday afternoon.
The Hawks will open the season against the Washington Capitals on Oct. 1, when they will raise four banners: Central Division Championship, Presidents’, Campbell Championship, and Stanley Cup Championship. In 2011 the Hawks lost their season opener to then-division rival Detroit Red Wings after raising the 2010 Stanley Cup Championship.
The Hawks will play 29 Central Division games under the new realignment. They will play the Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, and St. Louis Blues five times and the Winnipeg Jets four times.
With the new NHL realignment placing the Wings and the Columbus Blue Jackets in the Eastern Conference the Hawks will face each team twice in the regular season. They will play in Detroit on Jan. 22 and in Chicago on March 16 as well as two preseason games. The Hawks will host the Blue Jackets on March 6 and travel to Columbus on April 4.
The Hawks infamous Circus Trip will begin on Jan. 22 in Calgary and run until Feb. 9 when the NHL will take a break from Feb. 9 until Feb. 26 to allow players to participate in Winter Olympics. The Hawks will return to action in New York to face the Rangers on Feb. 27.
Following the game against the Rangers the Hawks will host the fourth and final game of the 2013 NHL Stadium Series at Soldier Field on March 1 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Hawks will also play in Pittsburgh on March 30 as well as two preseason games against the Pens.
The Hawks will close out the 2013-14 regular season schedule with back-to-back road games. They will play at the Capitals on April 11 and at the Predators on April 12.
The Hawks will play six preseason games. They’ll play at home against the Red Wings on Sept. 17, the Penguins on Sept. 19 and Capitals on Sept. 28 and on the road against the Capitals on Sept. 20, Red Wings on Sept. 22 and Penguins on Sept. 23.
